Velorosa UBFM Volunteer Night

Velorosa is proud to volunteer & support the Urban Bicycle Food Ministry of Des Moines as they make, and then distribute food and other necessities by bike to the homeless and food insufficient.   This is a great evening and opportunity to fulfill your 4-hour volunteer requirement if you haven't already done so.  

Timeline

4:45 pm - Food Preparation

6:00 pm - Bike to distribute food and supplies. 

8:30 pm - Return to Capitol Hill

Here's How It Works & What to Plan For

• If you have a donation, please pull up under the carport, drop your supplies, and then head over to the West Parking lot to park. 
• Park on the top level of the parking ramp west of Capitol Hill.  (DON'T LEAVE YOUR BIKE ON YOUR CAR!)
• Take your bike to the "bike corral"  on the North side of the building then enter the building using the doors under the west side carport.  Our meet-up/rally point will be inside Capitol Hill. 
• Wear your Velorosa gear and/or apparel as well as something high-vis or bright to ensure you're "seen".  Safety vests, anklets or bracelets are great accessories!
• Bikes will be needed for 5 of the 7 routes. Routes are 8 -10 miles on average.  Plan on frequent stops. 
• Front and rear bike lights are required, it can be dusk or after dark and safety is important!
