Velorosa held the 9th annual Sip & Swap at Jasper Winery last night to benefit the Urban Bicycle Food Ministry, We-Cycle and Iowa Dream Team.
"I love this event, it comes at just the right time. Winter is coming to a close and it brings the cycling community together after months of not seeing one another and it benefits great organizations who are doing good things with people on bikes!" -Kim Hopkins
If you've never attended before, you're missing out! The Des Moines cycling community is invited to bring new or gently used apparel, bikes, accessories and more to swap and/or donate. Each item donated gets 1 ticket to take home an item of your choice from the swap tables. At the end of the night, whatever items that remain are donated to the Iowa Dream Team.
During the swap, there's also a silent auction featuring a variety of goods and services donated by various individuals, groups and sponsors from in and around the Des Moines area. All this is taking place while attendees are sipping their favorite Jasper County wines!
At the end of the evening, we're excited to say that a total of $1800 was raised from the silent auction to benefit the Urban Bicycle Food Ministry, 4 large bags of cycling apparel and accessories were donated to the Dream Team and a large box of parts and accessories were donated to the We Cycle program.
If you'd like to learn more about these groups' and organizations we invite you to visit their websites and FaceBook pages for more information or to get involved!
Thank you to our team sponsor Jasper County Winery for donating the space to hold the event and many thanks to everyone who donated, bid on the auction and enjoyed an evening of Sippin & Swappin with the Velorosa cycling team!
