Cycling to raise funds for the Children's Cancer Connection of Iowa
On Sunday, January 26, cyclists from all over Iowa got ready for a six-hour indoor bike-a-thon. It’s called the Iron Glut at the Altoona Campus in Altoona, Iowa. The event is a total of 6 hours in length. Participants may ride as long or as short as they want. Spin instructors rotated throughout the ride. Games, prizes, motivational speakers, and other entertainment were provided to keep the riders spirits up and make it a fun time on bikes!
Velorosa cycling team members Deanne Herr & Val Nehls were excited to participate in the Iron Glut and #showup to help raise funds to fight cancer. Deanne took on the 100-mile challenge and completed it with a time of 4:37:20. Val participated as a single rider taking on a 2 hour time on the bike. Thanks ladies for representing and pedaling for such a great cause!
According to their FaceBook page, The 2020 Iron Glut raised over $3,600! Donations are still welcome and can be sent via Venmo to @East-Coast-Taekwondo or donate directly to the Children's Cancer Connection on their website.
